Sainsburys: Debt consolidation can be a new years resolution
According to Sainsbury's, the process of clearing debt is something that may be best tackled by turning it into a new year's resolution.
Head of cards at Sainsbury's Bank Donald Macleod said that "now is the time of year" to sort out finances, which could include debt consolidation.
He suggested that people should look at their financial situation, including their credit card bill and loans, and determine whether they could find a better deal.
"There are a lot of great deals out at this point and you can get a deal that really suits your circumstances," remarked Mr Macleod.
Research from Sainsbury's Bank reveals that credit cards were used to pay for 18 per cent of Christmas spending.
Meanwhile, 61 per cent of consumers said they anticipated they would clear their debts accrued during this period by the end of January.
